Slashing satire and topical trashings will be the order of the afternoon when guitarist and songwriter Roy Zimmerman brings his unique brand of musical mayhem to the studio this Friday for a live session that will air at 4:00 p.m.
Roy’s original songs about class warfare, creationism, same-sex marriage, guns, marijuana, abstinence, ignorance, war and greed have filled a dozen albums and provided the grist for his cross-country tours, the latest of which is part of a 50-state pre-election barnstorm that is bringing him to the Triangle for a Friday night show at the Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Durham.
A native of southern California, Roy founded the edgy folk quartet The Foremen, which performed at both the Republican and Democratic national conventions in 1996. In honor of this year’s election, Roy is posting a new Song of the Week every week until November 6, just to savor the delicate and perishable absurdities of the political season. Join us for a merciless dissection of the times this Friday at 4:00, only on WHUP!
