Two days before the official release of his new concept album Poetry Notes, Rome resident and songwriter Valerio Piccolo will stop by the WHUP studios for a live interview and music session.
A frequent visitor to New York, Valerio worked in the late 1990s and 2000s as a translator on numerous film and music projects, including albums by Suzanne Vega and the David Lynch film Mulholland Drive. His meldings of spoken word and tunes include his 2009 album Poetry, which comprised nine poems that Valerio translated from the original English and put to music. His latest effort features nine original pieces set to words composed by different American songwriters, novelists and poets, among them Suzanne Vega, Jonathan Lethem, Rick Moody and Ben Greenman. Tune in Wednesday at 3 pm, or on demand any time!
