Nashville-based singer-songwriter Rod Picott brings his guitar and prolific songwriting skills to the WHUP studios for another WHUP special session!
A native New Englander with blue-collar roots that infuse his lyrics, Rod honed his craft while working a variety of construction jobs and drove Alison Krauss’s merchandise truck before a fill-in slot as her opening act led to a regular support gig and eventually to a stellar solo career. A prolific writer, Rod has recorded 10 albums since 2002, and his songs have been covered by the likes of Ray Wylie Hubbard, Slaid Cleaves and Fred Eaglesmith. Join WHUP for an hour of entertaining stories and songs in advance of a show that night at the Cary Theater and a house concert on Saturday at the Dance Barn in Mebane.
