WHUP is pleased to announce that Hillsborough resident Wendy Padilla has joined the board of Hillsborough Community Media, the parent non-profit that holds WHUP’s broadcast license.
Wendy has experience in the non-prof sector as founder and President of Sunflower Turning, an organization that directly addresses food insecurity within local communities in the Triangle by teaching and empowering people to grow their own food. A school administrator and native Spanish-speaker, Wendy is committed to expanding WHUP’s reach into underserved communities in the area and be a positive agent for change.
Finding committed and talented board members who are willing to put in hundreds of hours for no pay and few perks is a challenge for all non-profits, WHUP included. So we’re obviously really excited to add an advocate of Wendy’s stature to the board and look forward to her contributions.
