Community theatre is thriving in our area. From the Paramount Theater in Burlington and the Kirby Theater in Roxboro to Manbites Dog in Durham and the ArtsCenter in Carrboro, we are surrounded by a plethora of venues and theatre companies. There isn’t a weekend that goes by that you can’t find a performance somewhere to attend. Whether it’s a musical comedy or a serious drama, some Shakespeare or an original production, there’s something to suit everyone’s tastes. And it’s not just the adults that are putting on shows, either. Alamance Children’s Theatre in Burlington and Young People’s Performing Company in Durham offer plenty of opportunities for tweens and teens to express themselves on stage, as well.
So, who are the actors and musicians, directors and choreographers, carpenters and stage hands who devote so much of their time to entertain us? Join us on WHUP each Wednesday afternoon from 5:00 – 6:00 to find out. We’ll be talking with them and learning about upcoming productions they are working on. We’ll let you know how you can become involved in your community theatre as well.
If you’ve got a show coming up, drop us line and we’ll help spread the word. Theatre is one big community and we want you to be a part of it. Lights Up!
