Begun almost 300 episodes ago in 2014, The Revolution Starts Now: The Topical Song Show features the most recent releases in its format, sometimes only a couple of days after the song was recorded. The focus on the new has made it one of the most influential political and topical folk music radio shows in North America. Despite being a prominent folk tastemaker, The Revolution Starts Now includes multiple genres from hip-hop to bluegrass to Afropop. A DJ and talk show host for 14 years, host Art Menius currently ranks among the most prominent promoters of music in folk radio. His 38 years in music include serving as executive director of International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA), Folk Alliance International (FAI), Appalshop, Southeast Regional Folk Alliance (SERFA), and The ArtsCenter in Carrboro. Menius is also former president of the Public Gallery of Carrboro which owns WCOM community radio.
